We are running a pilot program at UofT, but the original vision of Drs. Kelci Harris, Sonia Kang, and Elizabeth Page-Gould was to see the SROP at research institutions across Canada. Building from the UofT pilot model, we anticipate students would complete their research projects with faculty mentors at each partner institution and be supported by a Graduate Student Coordinator at your institution, but the professional development aspects of the program would still be run centrally.
We are currently writing a partnership grant application in the research training stream to support a nationwide program. If our partnership grant is successful, we intend to provide support to partner institutions in terms of materials (e.g., email templates, recommended timelines, promotional materials), communications, and monetary support. If you are a professor or administrator at another Canadian University or research training centre (e.g., a research hospital) that may be interested in hosting an SROP in future years, then we would love to be in touch. We want to build a community of academics who are passionate about diversity and inclusion and are curious to learn from UofT’s pilot years!
