The core component of the SROP is an 8-week research project under the supervision of a University of Toronto (UofT) professor who researches topics in Psychology, Management, or Neuroscience. When professors sign up for the Summer 2024 SROP, they submit a short description of the SROP research project and a statement of why they want to be involved in the SROP.
The SROP will be mostly in-person (in Toronto) in Summer 2024, but there are some remote projects available for Ontario residents only. The professional development components of the program will be delivered remotely, but many of the faculty projects require the student to be able to commute to one of our research sites in the Greater Toronto Area for the 8 weeks of the program. Projects are marked as “In-Person,” “Remote,” or “Either.” This is what those labels mean:
- If a research project says it is “in person,”, then you will need to either live in the Greater Toronto Area (and can commute to UofT) or you will need to be willing to move to Toronto for the 8 weeks of the program (weeks spanning June 3 – July 26) and stay in summer residence at UofT (Victoria University Summer Residence). Students who need to move to Toronto for the Canada SROP will have their travel and housing covered by the program, but they will receive a different stipend of $4565.60 (the cost to us for the housing).
- If a research project says “remote,” then it can be completed entirely through remote meetings and remote work. Ontario residents are able to complete the program remotely.
- If a research project says “either,” then you are welcome to come into the professor’s lab to work on the project in-person, but you could also complete it remotely if you live in Ontario.
